You've Worked Hard to Get Here. Your Renovation Shouldn't Put Any of It at Risk

If you’re like most of our clients, you’ve been in your home for a decade or more. You love the neighborhood. You love the life you’ve built here.

But somewhere along the way, the cracks started to show.

When Your Home Stops Working

Maybe it was one too many cramped Thanksgiving dinners, everyone wedged into a kitchen that was never designed for the family it became.

Or maybe it was the morning you stood in a bathroom that hasn’t changed since the late ’80s and thought, we’ve updated everything else in our lives. Why are we still living like this?

At some point, the thought becomes clear.

This home needs to work for who we are now and be ready for who we’ll be in the future.

The Thought That Stops Most People

And then comes the hesitation.

What if the costs spiral? What if we get locked into something we can’t get out of? What if we trust the wrong builder and regret it for years?

Those aren’t irrational fears. They’re the right ones.

Because in this industry, those things happen all the time. Not because homeowners make bad decisions, but because too many builders follow a process that makes cost overruns almost inevitable.

Why Bright Homes Exists

Bright Homes was built to fix that.

On this page, you’ll meet the team behind Bright Homes, see exactly how our process works, and understand why homeowners across South Salt Lake County and North Utah County say the same thing when it’s all done.

It went exactly how we were told it would.

Meet The Owner

“I’ve spent the last 25 years in this industry, and I’ve seen the same story play out more times than I can count. A project starts with a number, then the changes begin, and by the end, it looks nothing like what was promised.

That never sat right with me. I’ve always believed if it were my home, I wouldn’t accept that level of uncertainty, so I built Bright Homes to do it differently.

I started building at fifteen, figuring things out the hard way on a small garage project. It wasn’t perfect, but I learned early that if you start something, you finish it, and you do it right.

Over the years, I’ve worked on job sites, managed projects, and seen firsthand that most problems don’t come from construction itself. They come from what wasn’t planned before construction ever began.

That’s why everything we do is built around one idea. Plan it properly, take responsibility for the unknowns, and give homeowners a process they can actually trust.

If you’re going to invest in your home, you deserve to know exactly what you’re getting, exactly what it costs, and exactly how it’s going to turn out.”

OUR MISSION

Plan Everything. Own the Risk. Remove the Fear.

Most builders rush to construction because that’s where they get paid. Bright Homes does the opposite. “We spend as much time planning your project as we do building it,” Jon says. “Sometimes more.

For a kitchen or bathroom renovation, that can mean nearly two months of careful planning before a single wall comes down. For a large whole home remodel or home addition, the planning phase can run four to six months. Hundreds of hours invested before your money is ever truly on the line.

Why? Because when you know exactly what your project will cost, what it will look like, how long it will take, and every decision that needs to be made before construction begins, you can finally relax.

That’s the experience every Bright Homes client deserves and gets.

The Bright Homes Story

A Moment That Changed Everything

When Jon’s daughter was sixteen, their world changed in an instant. She was involved in a devastating accident that left her a quadriplegic.

There’s no preparing for something like that,” Jon says.

Months were spent in a rehabilitation facility, watching her relearn life from a wheelchair. Seeing families face challenges most people never experience. Strength, frustration, resilience, and courage, up close, every day.

It opens your eyes to how people really live,” he says.

How That Changed the Way He Builds

That experience didn’t just change Jon as a father. It changed him as a builder. Accessibility stopped being a requirement. It became personal.

Wider doorways. Curbless showers. Better flow through the home. The kinds of decisions most people don’t think about until it’s too late.

Now they’re considered from the very beginning.

You realize people don’t just want a nice house,” Jon says. “They want peace of mind.

What That Means for Your Home

Most homeowners come to us at a turning point.

The kids have moved out. The grandkids are arriving. Or the home simply no longer fits the way life looks today.

You’re not just renovating. You’re trying to make your home work again.

And not just for now, but for the next 20 or 30 years.

How That Changed the Way He Builds

That’s why we think beyond today from the very first conversation.

Wider doorways. Curbless showers. Layouts that stay comfortable as life changes.

These aren’t upgrades we tack on later. They’re built into the plan early, when they’re simple and cost effective to include.

If someone is investing this much into their home,” Jon says, “it’s their forever home. We treat it that way.

More Than a Remodel

Bright Homes doesn’t just remodel spaces.

We help you build a home that keeps working, no matter what life brings.

Why “Fixed Price” Actually Means Fixed and How We're Able to Back It Up

  1. 1 Consultation
  2. 2 Project Development
  3. 3 3D Design & Sign-Off
  4. 4 Fast Construction
  5. 5 Welcome Home

Here’s the truth about why most renovations blow out. It’s not bad luck. It’s bad planning.

When a builder gives you a quote filled with allowances, those placeholder numbers like “tile allowance: $3,500,” they’re not protecting you. They’re protecting themselves. It’s a way of estimating low now and sorting it out later. That’s how a $250,000 renovation turns into $310,000 before the project is finished.

Bright Homes doesn’t use allowances. Instead, we invest hundreds of hours before construction begins. We run inspections, use cameras, and 3D scan your home to create exact as built plans. If we cannot see what is behind a wall, we open it and find out. By the time we give you a price, we have done the work to stand behind it.

“We own it,” Jon says. “If something unexpected shows up, that’s our responsibility. Not yours.”

Design and estimating happen together from the very beginning. That means the design you fall in love with is one you can actually build within your budget. You are not sent back and forth between plans and pricing or forced to scale things down after the fact.

When your project is complete, you are backed by a two year workmanship warranty, double the industry standard. Because standing behind our work does not stop when construction ends.

What you can Expect

See Your Renovation Before It’s Built

Imagine standing in your future kitchen before construction begins and seeing exactly what it will look like.

Not a sketch. Not a mood board. A full, photo realistic 3D model with your finishes, your lighting, and the precise placement of every detail.

That’s what every Bright Homes client experiences before signing off.

“They’re blown away,” Jon says. “They’ve had this idea in their head for so long, and then when they finally see it, everything clicks.”

If something feels off, it’s fixed on screen in seconds. Not after framing, when changes take days and cost thousands.

By the time you approve your project, you’re not hoping it turns out right. You know exactly what you’re getting.

Guided Decisions Without the Overwhelm

For most homeowners, the hardest part isn’t construction. It’s the decisions. Finishes. Fixtures. Flooring. Cabinetry. Lighting. It adds up quickly.

Most builders send you to figure it out on your own. We don’t.

We start by understanding how you live and what you’re naturally drawn to. Then we do the legwork and bring you a curated set of options that fit your style and your budget.

You’re not sorting through endless choices. You’re choosing from a small number of options we know you’ll love.

“Our job is to understand your taste so well that every option feels right,” Jon says.

The result is simple. Decisions made once, with confidence.

Clear Communication From Day One

A common concern we hear is what happens once construction starts. Will updates slow down? Will communication fade?

We’ve built our process to make sure that never happens.

You’ll have access to a dedicated client portal where you can see the schedule, what’s happening that week, and where your project stands.

You’ll have direct communication with the team.

And every week, without exception, we meet with you to review progress, talk through what’s next, and handle anything that needs your input.

No guessing. No silence. Just clear, consistent communication the entire way through.

A Team You Can Trust in Your Home

The people working in your home matter.

Over 25 years, Jon hasn’t just built projects. He’s built a team.

The trades on your project are specialists we’ve worked with again and again. People we trust to treat your home with the same level of care we would.

Each one works from detailed plans, a clear scope, and a refined quality standard built over decades of real projects. Every time something could have gone better, it was documented and improved.

“If something doesn’t meet our standards, even if a client wouldn’t notice, we redo it,” Jon says.

We do it right, every time.

What Clients Say When the Project Is Finished and the Keys Are in Their Hands

Debbie M. | Olympus Cove

In a few instances, when a task was completed, we thought it looked okay, but it didn't meet Jon's high standards. So he brought someone else in and had them redo it. We ended up with a home that looks like it could be featured in a design magazine.

From the minute we met Jon, we knew we had chosen the right contractor. Jon listened to what we wanted, made suggestions, and helped plan the addition down to the smallest detail. He knew it was important for us to be done by a certain date, and he made sure we were.

Paul L. | Lehi

Bright Homes was extremely professional, giving us clear expectations and communicating frequently throughout the project. In the end, they went above and beyond our expectations in all of the little details.

I wish ten stars was an option. The process was so smooth and easy and Jon had our best interest in mind throughout the entire thing. He understood our style and found things that perfectly fit it. The quality, honesty, customer service, and bang for your buck is completely unbeatable.
